Senator Al Franken

Now that was easy... wasn't it?

Also... ya know, I spent at least 12 seconds looking for a picture of Al Franken as a baggage handler in the movie Trading Places without any luck at all. So I've had to settle for:

...and while I really like the above picture, it is a shameless non-sequitur (except for the vague reference to Al Franken's book Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot which he is, of course... but it's still a bit of a reach).

So, if you are able to find said picture, please drop the link in a comment in this thread and I will post it and give you credit for being able to navigate Google Images in a way that so obviously eludes me.

...pervert.

YOU NEED IT SOOOO BADLY...

Open your wallets, because you know you need it: the new Apple iPhone 3G S.

Just drop that "old" iPhone in the garbage... you SO need video capability in your cellphone AND Apple's brand new feature: this iPhone apparently bursts into a ball of flame when used. Enjoy!

Billy Mays: DEAD!

WTF? How is this guy even famous enough to die in the same week as MJ? Is this some kind of sick publicity stunt?

My guess... probably not.

I realize that I am an insensitive asshole... I really do. But it's the children who suffer when this sort of thing happens.

Forgive me... I'm still trying to make sense of all this. I need to buy something... if only there was someone around to scream in my face about products I have no interest in...

OHHHH, THE BITTER IRONY!!!!

I think this speaks for itself...

Flush.

Fucking bullshit los angeles...

Yep. It pretty much sucks ass here in the city of angels.

Go fuck something.

A Morbid Trifecta... RIP MJ

As if our little blog hadn't been sad enough given all the chaos in Iran...

They say these things always happen in three's. Ed... then Farrah... and now TMZ, as well as other sources, is reporting that Michael Jackson is dead.

Well, I'll admit it: I loved that crazy bastard. But this picture - rather than the ghoulish, rubber-faced, man-boy he would eventually turn himself into - is how I'll choose to remember him.

RIP MJ. I hope you find whatever peace that so apparently eluded you on Earth... as long as that peace doesn't involve a monkey, a llama, and a whole pack of cubscouts...

Iranian Election Protest in Los Angeles

I spent part of the day at the protest here in Los Angeles. We have one of the largest Persian populations in the US. Just a few photos out of the hundreds that I took...

The demonstration was very peaceful (obviously). Overall, a lot of bonding going on - some very pretty girls and everybody was wearing very expensive sunglasses ;)

Something very interesting happnened however. A lady approached me speaking Farsi as I was taking pictures. I don't know Farsi and told her so. She wanted to know what I was doing there and after I explained that I was just interested in the demonstration and wanted to photograph the event, she told me that she had reported me to the event coordinators. It seems that she thought I was a member of the Iranian Republic because of my beard! She wound up giving me one of the green "Iran" t-shirts you see them all wearing immediately afterward and cautioned me about overheating once I put it on over my current shirt... she is a very sweet lady.

Here's a very grainy video I took with my phone... HONK FOR FREEDOM!!!

I think I need a better camcorder...

Iran protest mashup...

just trying to compile some of the information I've seen into one place. we'll continue to update as we find more...

Ahmadinejad's blog is loading very slowly... but there is some really interesting stuff there if you have the patience. The right-hand column contains comments from his supporters - either cherry picked from the actual comments he's receiving or completely contrived and fictional. For example:

Greetings Your Excellency I see that the American Military is playing the Lets Blame Iran game. Iran is apparently the reason why things are so bad in Iraq. Do the Americans think that we are all crazy and will believe their continuous lies. Will it ever end.

Dear and honorable president my lasts comments not was pubblied and i admire you why this? Are messages too much for show all? Long life to you and Iran and all country that no like death but life.

Crowds apparently chanting "Marg Bar Khameini" (death to Khameini) shows the shift from violent protest to all out uprising:

Iran

If anyone has any good sources of information out of the Islamic Republic, please pass it along. This has the potential to be, perhaps, the biggest story on the international scene since 9/11.

Video of the clashes in Iran; more:

There are some good people reporting (so they say) from Iran on Twitter. For some reason it appears Twitter has, at least so far, survived government censorship.

Here is someone that is updating from time to time.

Note: IRDT is 8 1/2 hours ahead of EST.

I was glad to hear VP Bidden say, in so many words, that he thought the entire election was a fraud on MTP.

I don't understand why any honest news outlet is reporting the state's election results as legitimate.

Theres something happening here....

Weekend Comedy:

Here is Bill O' being a turd:

Here is some Weird Al:

Here is a story on the fraudulent Iranian elections. For what its worth (or FWIW for the under 22 crowd), Katherine Harris was sent over there by an international peace organization sponsored by the Weekly Standard. She has found the elections to be free and fair.

For those that can't vomit:

Some people are plauged by an affliction whereby they cannot puke. This can be deadly. If you are one of these people, and you swallow poision, fear not, a rememedy has appeared! As a Jew, I am so angered and embarased by this that I would say there is at least a 9% chance I will convert to Catholosism by noon tomorrow.

Watch at your own peril:
