I am on the public record, both on this blog and elsewhere, as having been a big supporter of both Candidate and President Obama. I even started a cheesy Myspace page (with a password I no longer remember) urging the man to run back in 2004--before he was even a U.S. Senator.
As most of us know, he ran on a platform of change. A year in I now ask you, haven't more things stayed the same then changed? What has really been accomplished, with Democratic majorities in both houses, of serious historic note?
The most impressive move the president seems to have been able to pull of thus far is the marvel of being able to alienate his base, the right and the middle. It seems as though his new group of core supporters are people that voted for him and stopped paying attention after the election.
I hope I am in a better mood before next years State of the Union chat.

there is a certain amount of disillusionment among democrats... myself included. but the alternative would have been so immensely disastrous. it's kinda like when you find out that turkey burgers aren't really all that good for you.
I can guarantee that I'LL be in a better mood because the Dums will have fucked up so much that the goopers will be the front runner and they've been running some real entertaining fucks this decade. I love legitimate theatre.
