Bill Clinton Endorses Obama

What a shocker....

Attorney General Mukasey will not probe the contempt of Josh Bolton or Harriet Miers because no crime was committed. Silly Congress, testifying before a grand jury is for people who break the law, not people who work in the Executive Branch of government. As we all know, if the President commits a crime it ceases to be a crime. With all the controversy swirling around Gov. Seigelman's case, these two nitwits should be in jail already. It's gonna be a long time before I trust my government again.

Obama Strikes Back

Clinton's Ad is Nothing New

This is from Johnson's 1964 run:

Just a couple things...

Due to technical issues, I haven't been able to contribute lately. Here's a couple headlines... more later.

The Extended Stay America hotel, owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment, is apparently offering the deadly toxin Ricin in its rooms now. This just two days after a mass-hepatitis C/HIV exposure scare at a Las Vegas clinic. If you can't trust the city of Las Vegas, then who, I ask, who can you trust?

Hillary Clinton once again sees the sign for the high road up ahead... and quickly makes a u-turn. The new Clinton ad (below) is so reminiscent of Bush administration fear mongering that I'm not sure how it could possibly help her. Haven't the American people learned yet? Oh yeah... this is an illiterate electorate.

Clinton campaign: Obama needs to sweep March 4
Posted: 11:00 AM ET

The Clinton campaign says Obama needs to win big on March 4, or else he has a problem.

(CNN) – Seeking to raise the expectations for its rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign said Friday that Sen. Barack Obama needs to sweep the March 4 primaries.
The Illinois senator should win all four states — Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont — decisively, given the amount of money and resources he has devoted to them, the Clinton campaign said in a memo circulated to reporters.

"If he fails to garner big wins, there's a problem," the memo states.
"The Obama campaign and its allies are outspending us two to one in paid media and have sent more staff into the March 4 states. In fact, when all is totaled, Senator Obama and his allies have outspent Senator Clinton by a margin of $18.4 million to $9.2 million on advertising in the four states that are voting next Tuesday."

"Senator Obama has campaigned hard in these states," the memo continues. "He has spent time meeting editorial boards, courting endorsers, holding rallies, and - of course - making speeches."
The memo came out moments after Obama campaign manager David Plouffe finished a conference call with reporters, during which he said the New York senator needs big victories in Texas and Ohio Tuesday if she hopes to chip away at Obama's now 153 pledged delegate lead — according to CNN's latest estimate.

"The Clinton campaign needs to begin wining big states by big margins to have any hope of eliminating this delegate lead they are facing," he said.

Last line of the night.....

...Bill Bradley must, and I mean must, be Obama's VP. Otherwise, the terrorists win and we will never again enjoy apple pie or motherhood. These are the stakes.

Ummm....

I give up. I quote a wise Jake: America is for Pussies.

And the winner is...

"Blogging to the Attention Deficit Generation" won by a fucking landslide this week. Mostly because the degenerates that opposed its wisdom refused to be represented.

The new poll begins now.

What a crybaby....

Here's your President:

" At issue is a dispute over whether telecommunications companies should be subjected to class-action lawsuits because they are believed to have helped defend America after the attacks of 9/11. Allowing these lawsuits to proceed would be unfair. If any of these companies helped us, they did so after being told by our government that their assistance was legal and vital to our national security."

Once again people, say it with me. If no crime was committed, then why the immunity? Have you ever heard of anyone who needed immunity for something that wasn't illegal? He can't even say if they did "help" the government because that would automatically prove the standing of these lawsuits. As we have seen, our Judicial branch refused to hear one case because of standing. Bush uses the word "believed" to have helped. Then he cries, "unfair"! Really? Like getting sent to prison for 8 years for political reasons?

"Now, let me talk about the phone companies. You cannot expect phone companies to participate if they feel like they're going to be sued. I mean, it is these people are responsible for shareholders. They're private companies.

The government said to those who have alleged to have helped us that it is in our national interests and it's legal. It's in our national interest because we want to know who's calling who from overseas into America. We need to know in order to protect the people.

It was legal. And now all of a sudden plaintiffs attorneys, class-action plaintiffs attorneys, you know I don't want to try to get inside their head; I suspect they see, you know, a financial gravy train are trying to sue these companies. It's unfair. It is patently unfair."

Once again notice the very interesting choice of words, "alleged to have helped us". If they didn't help us, why does Bush care if they get immunity? If they get sued for 5 billion, Bush can then give the telecoms 5 billion in subsidies or whatnot. That's not the real point, the real point is no trials. If trials happen, then disclosure happens. Then impeachment and jail sentences follow.

Finally, I LOVE hearing Bush talk of financial "gravy trains". Not that the Iraq war hasn't been one huge gravy train for Halliburton, Blackwater, Betchel, KBR, etc. It's almost too much hypocrisy for one's brain to fathom.

Bloomberg for VP???

This has potential.

Was Drudge Wrong?

Drudge broke a story that Prince Harry is fighting in Afghanistan, which nobody in the media was supposed to do until April, and now he has to come home early.

Bush Press Conference

I just finished watching the President speak. He is really thriving in his role as a lame duck. It was a staple "Bush-Conference", with all kinds of double speak and criminal fantasies. He did hit a home run when he said " Look, I'm concerned about the economy because I'm concerned about working Americans, concerned about people who want to put money on the table and save for their kids' education. "

The only people that I of that want to "put money on the table" are cocaine dealers, drinkers, and gamblers, and even the later are prone to using chips. If money goes on tables and not into cash registers, how are we going to stimulate the economy? This makes no sense.

Read the transcripts here, or watch the video via C-SPAN.

Sadly, Bush may not allow me to go to Hawaii this summer on my Grand children's dime.

Morning Memo:

Good day to all!

- This is a good look at some SNL skits that deal with Sen. Clinton. Be sure to check out the Hardball sketch.

- Here is a good look at Sen. Obama and McCane from Jamaica. I am again amazed that Sen. Clinton keeps pressing Sen. Obama that he is not experienced enough for the job, or the path one must take beyond the primary. Based on her logic, McCane is more qualified than she is and thus should be president. Which leads me back to the question I asked the other day, does Sen. Clinton want McCane to be the next president?

I must run. I leave you, the reader, with another depressing story about the WAR in Iraq.

Hey Bill Maher...I found someone for your next panel.

Here's a rather long, but awesome video of George Galloway testifying before the Senate. Republican Senator Norm Coleman from Minnesota really goes after him, accusing him of exploiting the Oil for Food sanctions. He gets owned by Galloway. Welcome to the House of Commons bitch, this is how we do it in Britain. Side note, Coleman is running against Al Franken.

A pretty cool breakdown as we count the days...

Man, Bush has done some serious damage to this country. You hear the stories all the time, but it's even more shocking seeing the numbers side by side. Can't wait for Jan. 20, 2009!!! Click the pic to enlarge.

This is NOT a story....

Why the hell are people arguing over Barack's middle name? He didn't name himself! The name "Hussein" is hugely popular around the world. They are not ALL terrorists. Wasn't our biggest ally in the Middle East for a long time named King Hussein? The conservative right didn't seem to mind it then. I can't wait for the general election when Obama goes against the zombie brains right. We'll just stand back and watch them try to out crazy one another. Example A.

Got Faith?

This is a scary mash up of how interwoven politics and religion have really become. I guess the whole separation of church and state was just something to consider, not a hard line rule. Thoughts?

An oldie but goodie....

"You want those missing emails huh?"

Morning Memo:

-Looks like Sen. Obama is holding his lead over Sen. Clinton, while McCane* is about to lose the Turd vote, again.

- Here are two interesting stories about events in Kenya. Maybe they are afraid that Dr. Rice was going to come after them with her piano.

- Dan Savage does a good job answering a very tough question.

- This is pure stupidity. Circulating these sort of emails signals a clear sense of gullibility and idiocy, and makes me question whether or not G-d should have perhaps sided with the Pharaoh.**

* Again, I like this spelling better than the traditional McCain variation. I know that only I find it to be funny, and I am sorry...Really.

Afternoon Memo:

UPDATE:Bush and the use of the Justice Dept.

I have been updating this story and bomb shells continue to drop. PLEASE take the time and watch the 60 Minutes report, it's linked below. I seem to remember some other Distrcit Attorneys who were fired for not starting investigations like this.

This piece was being blocked by the administration, but finally was aired. Last night. Against the Oscars. It's a very important story of Alabama Governor Don Seigelman and how he was railroaded to prison for being a Democrat in a Republican dominated region. They tried to get this guy many times and couldn't get anything to stick. A female Republican operative actually admits that Karl Rove asked her to get lewd photos of Seigelman. Asked why as a Republican she was speaking out she said because of her conscience. The first time they brought him to trial the judge immediately threw the case out for lack of evidence. Well they finally got him, thanks to a known crook's testimony. Please read the whole story because I think it's worth noting. This story really angers me on so many levels. MSM, get your head outta your ass and let the country know about this!

UPDATE: 52 former state Attorney Generals (Dem and Rep) call on Congress to open investigations regarding this story.

UPDATE: WATCH the 60 minutes report here.

UPDATE: Here's Karl Rove LYING on FOX about this report.

UPDATE: Now we've come full circle. McCain apparently tried to shield some of his boys from his Abramoff investigation. He left a person off his sweep of the scandal for possible favors in the future. Who was this person? Alabama Gov. Bob Riley, who ran against Seigelman. Bob Riley's campain manager's wife started the railroading of Gov Seigelman by launching sweeping investigations trying to catch him. She was appointed to her post of Fedreal District Attorney by George W. Bush. She never did catch him with anything and was forced to recuse herself from any following investigations. This story is sick. The more I dig the nastier and more sinister it gets.

I wouldn't want to be McCain right now..

I think the video speaks for itself...................

A musical interlude...

I figured that last post warrants a legitimate musical interlude... enjoy rocking the fuck out to the Flaming Lips:

Afternoon Memo:

Happy new week!

This edition is going to focus on a turd named John McCane.*

Here is a good story that deals with McCane being intricately tied to the war in Iraq. This really tells the tale:

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll from February 1-3, 2008, reported that
64% of adults nationwide oppose the war in Iraq, while only 34% favor the war --
despite the fact that 52% agree that the U.S. military "is making progress in
improving conditions in Iraq and bringing an end to the violence in that
country."

Apparently the Dems have taken notice.

Furthermore McCane seems to hate families and the people comprise them, since this war is destroying both.

Additionally, I offer some scientific evidence that McCane is indeed a turd.

Here is proof that turds are a self loathing lot:

I really like this guy. I might send him an email asking him to come to my apartment each morning and wake me up by doing that.

And here is another turd on turd video. This one is a pragmatic call to action:

Thats all.

***UPDATE (3:37 PST)***

I just got this in my email box:

Dear McCain Supporter, Today we witnessed the first of the negative TV attacks that will be waged against John McCain. The liberal group VoteVets.org has begun airing an attack ad on cable television that flat out lies about John McCain's positions. And this is only the beginning. National Liberal Democratic groups are rolling out their strategy for the General Election. It appears that the politics of "hope and change" are euphemisms for even more vicious attacks than we've ever seen before. All the usual liberal suspects; MoveOn.org, the Democratic National Committee, The New York Times and others are adding to the efforts under way by VoteVets and are plotting to spend over $20 million to smear John McCain. A line has been drawn in the sand. The smoke and mirrors of the democrats' rhetoric betray the negative campaign tactics of their confederates. Now the shadowy 527 groups allied with them are spending unchecked millions. For them, it's not about what's best, it's all about winning. It is a sad day in our county's history that it has come to this. We need your immediate help to combat this attack from the angry Liberal Left. There is nothing they will hold back, no limit to what they will spend, and we have to be ready to fight back and tell voters what we already know: that John McCain is the right person to lead our country on day one. Please make an immediate contribution to help stop these attacks. The election is not until November, but these groups are already buying television ads to spread lies about John McCain. We have to prepare now so we have the resources to respond. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, Rick DavisCampaign Manager P.S. We need your immediate help. Please make a contribution today so we can fight back against the Liberal Left that will stop at nothing to win.

Ugg...

*I am fully aware that I am not spelling his name the same way the Sen. from Arizona does. This is on purpose and I it amuses me. If you are not amused please allow me to formally apologize and plead with you to overlook my silliness. Thanks.

To build on Kreplech's post...

This is the cat that brought down You Tube in Pakistan. It would be easy to discard him as an ignorant bigot, and he may be just that, but there is something to his point. He mentions that "it is time to stop being tolerant to those that do not tolerate us."

There is, in my opinion, something to be said for that. If you disagree, then go F*#K yourself.

Here he is in his own words from a Fox "News" interview:

Part II:

Here is a response by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is an incredibly impressive person. Check it out:

Sorry these are from Fox "News" and not another source. I hope by putting the news part in quotes I defuse your intollerance for anything that offends the sacred truth of your belief system.

Monday :(

Noticed our YouTube links have been intermittently unavailable? Blame Pakistan.

On Friday, Pakistan's Internet regulator and censor, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority, ordered ISPs in the country to shut down access to YouTube, which had been hosting a video that -- according to the Pakistani government -- was so critical of Islam it could have sparked riots.

Morocco, Turkey, and Thailand have also censored YouTube in the past year.

The BBC report:

Continuing with that techy theme... The FCC is holding a hearing on the subject of Net Neutrality today. With Comcast being investigated for "slowing some customers' access to peer-to-peer file-sharing program BitTorrent", Michael Copps aint lyin:

"I see no reason for us to have to wait for a new law to get this going," Mr. Copps said. "Network operators are making choices right now that will determine how Americans communicate today and in the future. The are deciding right now how the Internet is going to be managed. Some of their choices may be right; some of their choices may be wrong."

A final tech-related note... Remember that cool McCain opinion poll video going around last week? The organization that put that together, MediaCurves.com, does all sorts of digital-focusgroup work where users get paid to take part in studies. Including believability tests on Andy Pettitte's media address from last week and believablility-mashup of Clemens vs. McNamee.

Also, please vote in our Tag-Line poll on the right side of the screen. Feel free to submit better - or at least completely inappropriate alternatives - as comments to this post.

Peace-out,
kreplech

Anatomy of a Failure

For a while I have been thinking that graduate schools will be holding semester long seminars dissecting Sen. Clinton's shame of a campaign. Then I woke up today and saw this.

Then I read Maggie William's response.

No need for a course of any kind. In sum, Clinton's people set a trap that only they could be trapped in. Furthermore, Obama is gaining a point per day in Ohio.

Dignity is such a lonely word.

- The surge is now a lesser nightmare??? More evidence.

- The Chinese government are steer pizzle. Say what you will about Bush and the criminal thugs he calls a cabinet, but at least the U.S. doesn't do this crap.

Maybe I'm naive but...

With all the stories swirling around John McCain's campaign for the White House, now this pops up. I read an article recently about how McCain helped Anheuser Busch broker a deal with the Arizona Cardinals for the rights to an all exclusive deal for alcohol and advertising sales in the stadium. Seems benign. Until you look into who the local A.B. distributors are. They are Hensley Distributing, whose chairman is Cindy Hensley McCain, John's wife and financial supporter. Seems fishy. Do you think as chairwoman of the board she might have gotten a bonus of some sort for landing such a lucrative deal? Doesn't it seem odd that McCain wants to keep corporate taxes low? He needs to recuse himself from our country immediately.

From the Phoenix Business Journal:

Cindy McCain is chairwoman of Phoenix-based Hemsley Co., the third-largest Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in the U.S. and one of the largest privately held businesses in Arizona.

Bill Maher is losing my respect weekly.

Thank God someone else noticed how Bill Maher keeps having these rightwing loons on his show and allows them to spew untrue talking points without calling them on it. Why don't we just let Matt Taibbi host the show from now on. He's the only one with balls I've seen on Real Time in weeks. Seems a lot of folks are pretty steamed at Bill. For good reason.

Thank you Mr. President

Ralph Nader is back! I love the guy and hope he does run. I agree with him more than I do virtually any other person that has run for public office in my lifetime. Give em' Hell Ralph...

There have been rumors and barbs flying about John McCain and whether the ethics man is truly a man of his word. Well, when your campaign is brimming with lobbyists from top to bottom you get a good idea of where McCain really stands. How can the man who has railed against campaign finance and lobbyists actually be...........wait, I forgot who I was talking about. Ladies and gentlemen I give you, the Republicans and the party of hypocrisy!

Damn...

Why did I throw out all my old tapes and CD's? I could of been RICH! How much of it do you think he donates? Rich people waste so much money. How many houses could that money have rebuilt in New Orleans, or San Diego? You should have to take an IQ test once you clear your first million.

Guns to caviar index

If your not familiar with the guns to caviar index, it's a study that compares the sale of fighter jets to the sale of private jets. It's usually a direct coorelation to whether the economy is good or bad depending on which sale of jets is higher. Well, we now can add a new category to the index.

UPDATE: Naomi Klein writes of this index in her book The Shock Doctrine. Unfortunately, the index is becoming a moot point in the last couple of years due to the fact that waging war is actually an amazing way to make money. For some. Others not so much.

An estimated $350 billion is spent on government contracts annually, according to the White House office of Federal Procurement Policy. With money going to contractors and subcontractors, both foreign and based in the United States, experts say it's nearly impossible to pinpoint how much of it is spent overseas.

Really?!

You call that an apology Bill Orally? I say it again people. HOW the hell does this guy have a job on air, let alone a large audience? How exactly is this any different from Don Imus's comments? Hell, Billo didn't call Michelle Obama a nappy headed hoe, he said lynch! The zombies that buy into this garbage terrify me more than any Al Qaeda terrorist!

Here's BillO's comment:
“I don’t want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there’s evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels”

UPDATE: The Reverend Jesse Jackson was on Countdown with Keith today to talk about this "apology". He said Orally's comments were "hurtful, and dangerous." He calls on the FCC to hold him accountable, good luck there Reverend Jackson. He called Bill's comments racism "at it's worst form." We'll see if anything will come of this.

Tweedy sucks...

David Shuster returns today on HardBall with Chris "Tweedy" Matthews. A long time coming if you ask me. Shuster was suspended for 2 weeks for his "pimped out" comment about Chelsea Clinton. Clinton specifically sent a letter to the head of NBC news calling for Shuster's termination, however a closer examination shows exactly who the Clinton campaign wanted fired. Here's Shuster's response today. Good to have one of the few real political reporters back.

Good times!

Charlie Crist

In case you were wondering what is gong on in Florida, here is an update by the state's gov, who may become McCane's VP:

Dear Friends,
The quality of life for every Floridian rests on the health of our people, a strong education for our children, and a very vibrant economy.
I have recommended to the Legislature a plan to increase competition and efficiency in our health care marketplace. By lifting the cap on the KidCare program, 23 percent of our uninsured children could receive the medical attention they deserve. By developing consumer choice benefit plans and increasing access to dental care, we can improve access and quality of care for Floridians.
I am proposing legislation that promotes transparency in school spending and reallocates unused funds from the Teacher Merit Award Program. The unused funds will go towards increasing teacher awards through the program. I am also proposing $100 million in incentives for middle schools that enroll students in physical education.
State government is leading by example to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I am recommending $200 million for an energy and economic development package to boost Florida's renewable and alternative energy. This includes funding for research and development opportunities for businesses and projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Home ownership is a cornerstone of the American dream – and our economy as well. Yet, many Floridians are losing that dream – and losing hope. This week, I announced a task force to examine the high rate of home foreclosures in our state and explore ways that we can reverse this trend. Our goal is to provide recommendations that will help us provide hope to the families and individuals facing foreclosure.
I have also proposed $10 million for new technology that will equip every child protection caseworker with a handheld device that can verify the location and time of every home visit. This tool will help our protective investigators focus on doing casework, instead of paperwork – and revolutionize how we protect Florida's foster children. It is time we harness the technology that is available to provide the safest environment and care for Florida's children.
Thank you and may God continue to bless Florida.

Go Howard Dean!!

I am stealing a bit from crooks and liars but I believe this must be reiterated to Democrats across the board. When any talking head asks you about the John McCain scandal, you reply THIS WAY! Nothing more, nothing less. Got it Dems?

When terrorism is "good"

I have been telling anyone who will listen to go out and buy Naomi Klein's new book The Shock Doctrine. It really is a scary look into disaster capitalism and the take over of Friedman economics. A lot of it has to do with how our government will tolerate terrorism when it suits their purpose. We might know a lot of these stories, but the MSM is not willing to discuss them. I found a good article dissecting one small portion of this phenomenon. How are these stories not discussed when the media talks about why "they" hate us? It damn sure isn't our freedoms!

The Final Stand

Full Article Here

“You probably like it that it has come down to Texas,” Mr. Clinton said Wednesday while campaigning for Mrs. Clinton in Beaumont, Tex. “If she wins Texas and Ohio, I think she will be the nominee. If you don’t deliver for her, then I don’t think she can be. It’s all on you.”
.........................

I think this is the best strategy for the Clintons on how to frame the current state of the elections. Let's see if they run with it.

Lesson of the day

Here's a great nugget from Rush Limbaugh:

"The important question for John McCain today is, is he going to learn the right lesson from this, and what is the lesson? The lesson is liberals are to be defeated. You cannot walk across the aisle with them. You cannot reach across the aisle. You cannot welcome their media members on your bus and get all cozy with them and expect eternal love from them. You are a Republican. Whether you're a conservative Republican or not, you are a Republican. At some point, the people you cozy up to, either to do legislation or to get cozy media stories, are going to turn on you. They are snakes. If the right lesson is not learned from this, then it will have proved to be of no value. There's a great opportunity here for Senator McCain to learn the right lesson and understand who his friends are and who his enemies are. He's had that backwards for way too long. He has thought the New York Times is his friend. He has thought Chris Matthews and these other people in the Drive-By Media are his friends. They aren't. That's the lesson today."

Emphasis Added.

Ahhh....I love the smell of zombie brains in the morning!

We're all gonna die!!

Is there no end to the freakshow that is the lunatic right. Be afraid, be very afraid!

This video is sadly very real.

UPDATE: Here's your "government" hard at work. Protect America Act expires, POOF, "we lost intelligence, thanks Dems!" Unreal.

Israel has gay people?

They sure do, and apparently they're causing some real problems!

Move over Obama

There's a new sherriff in town. It's the Huckster baby!

You will not silence us!

I love hearing these stories. Rethuglicans trying their hardest to disenfranchise the black vote. Well, these kids aren't taking it sitting down. Literally. This is video of students from Prairie View A&M marching 7 miles to vote, after they moved the polls far away to make it difficult for them to vote. Stunning show of patriotism.

From Crooks and Liars:

The day closed yesterday with:
Rep: 82 voters Dem: 472 voters
In a county that votes for Republicans in large numbers, this number is HUGE!!!!
Also, I can report that in Austin County, the race was almost equal yesterday. That is HUGE information because Republicans normally out vote Democrats (at least in primaries) at the rate of 10-to-1.

Bimbo Doll: This is What Stupidity Looks Like

This is from McCane's bimbo kin. She is a whore.

Caution: For Bulimics Only

This was already linked by Bradda, but I think it deserves a reset. Bush asserts that the war is creating jobs at 1:31 and that "the reason this economy is down because we built too many houses" at 1:38. He got a C- in Economics...

Derek Jeter is... Human?

This ranks easily among the most important events of the day, as Phil Allard of NYY Fans postulates his dubious claims of Jeter's mortality. Citing sub-par defensive play and Jeter's overall lack of involvement in significant historical events (see Korean War: Battle of Inchon), Allard spits into the winds of wisdom, arguing with New York baseball fans about the very foundation of their entire belief system. Oh, Phil... you tread dangerous waters...

Late Morning Memo:

I agree that McCain is scum, and we are not alone, though the man behind the Huck-a-mania craze doesn't seem to think so. I just hope he is lying and something like this miraculously appears.

Just a couple a'things...

Democrats Abroad for Obama

With momentum building on Obama's side, it hasn't been since Super Duper Fucking Tuesday that Hillary has won a primary. The Associate Press announces Obama's win with democrats abroad:

Barack Obama won the Democrats Abroad global primary in results announced Thursday, giving him 11 straight victories in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Obama's share was over 60% - leading some to believe that America's reputation may be in danger overseas...

It was fun while it lasted.

Afternoon Memo:

* Jonathan Martin has a great warning of sorts for Sen. Obama that is worth taking a look at. He is basiclly arguing that the good Sen. needs to be on his toes or suffer the fate of John Kerry.

* Some bad news for the people of Minnisota.

* One more on the good Sen.

Keep the faith (in what I'm not sure)....

Missing the Point

There is so much that Obama's two opponents don't seem to understand about him and the movement fueling his historic ascension. The first, and perhaps paramount issue they are missing, is that this is a true grassroots movement. This is not a campaign, at least not in a traditional sense, and that is the entire point. His two opponents continue a discussion about what they want to do for you, the hapless dupe. They are concerned with how you may or may not fit into a target group. They are the old Al Gore.

His Democratic opponent wants to give you health care and jobs and schools and leadership and jobs and health care and...well, I tend to mentally "check out" at that point, which is the entire point. She is running as Santa Clause in a business suit. Granted, these are necessary and noble pursuits, and she is entirely capable of delivering on half of what she says, but the glass window that exists between her and the people she will be serving remains very much intact.

The methods she employees are right out of a Campaign 101 course and thus, rightfully appear transparent and false. She may be the real deal, but she does not come across that way. On her good days, I see her as a slice of Yellow Fin sashimi packaged in Whopper Jr. wrap. On her bad days she looks like a more capable version of John Kerry after losing a state she was born to win by almost 20 points. Its starting to smell like that raw fish has been sitting on the counter for a few days.

The Republican contender, on the other hand, I think understands that he is about to dive head first into a tidal wave. He has the same look in his eyes as that guy with the cowboy hat in Dr. Strangelove that rides the bomb into the Rooskie's doomsday machine. One can sense it during a press conference/victory party (after another night of beating up on Ned Flanders) when he calls Obama's words empty. For starters, he is using the same textbook as the other Democrat, which has brought her 10 straight defeats. He is playing on the same fear of inexperience that has led to the Clintons scrambling for delegate crumbs like a pack of starved rats. His charge of "empty" is just that, and his success will be no greater than hers.

Obama supporters reflect the sense that things cannot really get much worse. Experience is not an asset in this climate. Every year Bush becomes more experienced and yet, he becomes more of a failure with each passing year. In truth, it seems almost un-American to not roll the dice and go with the candidate that has the most upside.

Obama has tapped into the nerve that feels that the country is sick. His solution, we are the only people that can heel our civic body (whose civic soul has been dying since we put our flags away in October of 2001). This is not a campaign, this is a revival, and a much needed one at that. Obama is more Shamon than politician. He is more like the the new Al Gore. They want to fight for us, and Obama wants us to become warriors.

The Jets Suck

This story is not just their story, its all of ours, and it reflects and represents the NY Football Jets.

Glenn Greenwald is my hero

I wanted to share this piece he wrote on how our Supreme Court denied a NSA wiretapping case from being heard. Our country is in bad shape if Alito, Scalia and Roberts are allowed to protect a criminal in the White House. This is a serious story and I find it sad that the only people talking about it are bloggers and Keith Olberman. We have AG's investigating themselves, judges refusing to hear cases against the government and a Congress that can only vote whether Christmas is a national holiday.

Careful....

Obama and his wife need to be REAL careful about statements like this. The lunatic fringe will pounce on it. I know what she meant, and I don't think there was anything wrong with her saying it. Unfortunately, I actually have brain that functions on it's own. Most of this country sadly does not.

UPDATE: I warned the Obama's! The talking heads have been spinning the crap outta her quote. Now as I watch Real Time with Bill Maher, and they spent about 7 minutes discussing the quote. Jack Kingston goes on to say that Osama "refuses to do the Pledge of Allegence." Bill did not call him out on it either. The lunatic fringe just spew hate and lies, and no one has the balls to stand up in their face and yell LIAR! YOU ARE A LIAR!

Does this ever get old?

I don't think I need to comment on this. It speaks for itself. How do the Republicans continue to be the family values party? We live in strange times. Honestly, after Foley, Haggard, Craig, Vitter....the list goes on and on. Oh, then there's highly respected White House reported Jeff Gannon.

You Just Lost 10 Contests in a Row!!!

But of course, those States don't mean anything right? Save your embarrasment and just drop out of the race now, because you're going to get trounced on March 4th!

3 Cell Carriers in Price Battle
By PETER SVENSSON AP Technology Writer
4:15 PM EST, February 19, 2008

NEW YORK - Verizon Wireless introduced an unlimited calling plan $99.99 a month on Tuesday, a move that was quickly matched by AT&T Mobility and T-Mobile USA and weighed down stock prices for all U.S. mobile carriers. Read...

.............................

Unlimited cell phone usage for $100 / mo. local & long distance now will be widespread. Of course, I was rocking Metro PCS $50 unlimited about 4 years ago, but now the big players are competing. Meanwhile, I am waiting for an unlimited world plan. Seriously, wtf. Hopefully within three years.

uhm... Giant Sea Spiders???

Apparently there are such things as Giant Sea Spiders.

I'm just sayin... maybe we're losing track of the big picture here... giant fucking sea spiders... ya know?

Grab a Shovel!

The time has come to bury your $$$ in the backyard! Though you probably won't have one for long.

Whoopee, we're all gonna be homeless!

Memo:

In Tel Aviv, African refugees are confused and desperate. At least Vogue is satisfied and Solana appears busy.

I'm not sure why I am seeing/hearing/reading so many B-stories about Amtrak, HD DVD, and beef, and so little about maternal death, suicide towns, and the Big Court. But my guess is it has something to do about our national stupidity epidemic. Or perhaps it could be due to our collective addiciton to porn.

Oh well, I'm just going to turn on my HD flatescreen tube and tune out, before I get too preachy.

So here's a nice story about rabbits in China.

Have a good day, ya'll...

Today

Can't wait for the election results. Better than sports. Go Huck!

Castro's resignation. Wait a minute, hasn't he been retired since 2006!?? What overblown media coverage (surprise). At least it will give people reason to celebrate on Calle 8.

At least we are not just outsourcing our jobs.....

Mark Twain once said: Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.

Then again, he also said: I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying that I approved of it.

These statements take me to that (special) part of my brain (or spirit, if you will) that is usually reserved for thoughts (or feelings) about my friend (someday?) Mike Huckabee. It is this bloggers opinion that the closet thing we have to the poignancy of Twain is the Former (but still great) Governor from Arkansas. So I sit and ponder, what would Huck say about this?

Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

Thankfully we still have Hugo Chavez. I would hate to think that we, as a populous, would have to focus on the ills of our own government. Deflection is Power!

Check you credit score

Why do I get the feeling that Bush has turned our economy into a college kid with his first credit card? Just keeping going to the well if you need to, don't worry it'll all work out in the end. History will say he is the greatest EVER! I hope Freidman is burning in hell.

Up is Down, Truths are Lies...

I seem to remember our fearless leader proclaiming Afghanistan to be a pretty nice place to live now that the Taliban and Al Qaeda have be driven from the country. Here's his qoute

...................

"In Afghanistan, America, our 25 NATO allies, and 15 partner nations are helping the Afghan people defend their freedom and rebuild their country. Thanks to the courage of these military and civilian personnel, a nation that was once a safe haven for al Qaeda is now a young democracy where boys and girls are going to school, new roads and hospitals are being built, and people are looking to the future with new hope." SOTU'08

So what the hell is THIS ? Do these people truly believe the crap that spews from their zombie brains?

Largest Beef Recall in US History

Largest Recall of Ground Beef Is Ordered

Published: February 18, 2008

A California meat company on Sunday issued the largest beef recall in history, 143 million pounds, some of which was used in school lunch programs, Department of Agriculture officials announced... See complete original article here.

And.. See Humane Society video on this story here.

......................

Of course this is a horrible story. But what is going to happen to all that recalled beef? It certainly isn't going to be consumed by the people of the US, but should it be thrown away? It seems that consumption does not really represent a serious health risk We should send it off to those starving. That's a solid 500 MILLION hamburgers. I hope it doesn't go to waste.

Heyyo!

Happy President's day all......BOOBIES!

Awesome

Best Beatles cover, ever!

Spies Like Us

Glenn Greenwald has been keeping a close eye on the "Protect America Act" , and how the President has been trying his hardest to scare the shit outta anyone who doesn't know any better. Richard Clarke sets the record straight. Please do all you can in contacting you local Represenative in the House and let them know how you feel about your government giving telecoms retroactive immunity.

I was wrong

I was wrong, and I am strong enough to admit it. I was wrong when I thought that Bill Clinton was not a douche bag, as his detractors have been alleging for the last 15 years. They were right, and that puts me in a room with some ugly people, but the facts are the facts, and for those of us not named Clemens, that still means something. I was wrong, and I have to acknowledge it. After all, isn't that what makes a man?

Mmm, sure. That and a pair of testicles.

Eat it Posada....

I'm all-in Roger!

Ummmm.....really??

I found this awesome nugget today and decided to see if he's correct.

"Polls are nothing more than just like a poof of air. What matters is results."
-- President Bush(2/15/2008)

Let's see:
Invading a country on lies and cooked books. Check.
No response for days after a massive storm destroyed a major US city. Check.
Outing a covert CIA agent. Check.
Handing out HUGE no-bid contracts to cronies with no oversight. Check.
Ditching Kyoto. Check.
Hiring nothing but cronies from a tier 4 law school (Regent). Check.
Not allowing ANYONE to talk to said cronies. Check
Spying illegally on his own citizens. Check.
Shooting an old man in the face while drinking. Chec..err...close.

Obviously I could go on and on, but I guess we can see that results do mean a lot to him. Results for him and his rich friends.
