Blender asked the candidates what their top ten songs of all time are. They then had Randy Newman and Girl Talk(?) to analyze the picks. It's kind of stupid I think because it has no bearing on anything when it comes to leading our nation out of the shitter but I'm posting it because one of Randy Newman's remarks made me spit water on my cat. Here's the lists:
BARACK OBAMA
1. Ready or Not Fugees
2. What's Going On Marvin Gaye
3. I'm On Fire Bruce Spingsteen
4. Gimme Shelter Rolling Stones
5. Sinnerman Nina Simone
6. Touch the Sky Kanye West
7. You'd Be So Easy to Love Frank Sinatra
8. Think Aretha Franklin
9. City of Blinding Lights U2
10. Yes We Can will.i.am
JOHN McCAIN
1. Dancing Queen ABBA
2. Blue Bayou Roy Orbison
3. Take a Chance On Me ABBA
4. If We MakeIt Through December Merle Haggard
5. As Time Goes By Dooley Wilson
6. Good Vibrations The Beach Boys
7. What A Wonderful World Louis Armstrong
8. I've Got You Under My Skin Frank Sinatra
9. Sweet Caroline Neil Diamond
10. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes The Platters
Now here's Randy Newman responding to the question, "Who gets your vote based on these lists?":
RN: McCain has a really likable list. Then again, Hitler liked some good music, you know?
I couldn't have said it better myself! BTW, who the fuck puts ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" on their top ten songs of all time?? And where the hell are the Beatles?

Somehow McCainiac doesn't seem like an Abba kind of guy, but no accounting for taste. I can definitely say I've Got You Under My Skin fits though. The bastard's like a tick.
Obama's list looks like his PR people made it up so all the tunes would be thinly veiled references to himself.
I heard Bush keeps the Archies on his iPod, but don't tell anyone. I don't want my phone tapped.
poobah, Your phone is already tapped! I thought the same thing about Obama's list.
Two ABBA songs?
What a limited range the man has.
Randy Newman, you sonofabitch, go on with your bad self.
Where are the Beatles? Are you fucking kidding me? This might be the first grouping of two or more lists that DIDN'T have the fucking Beatles on them, which is probably some part of the US Revised Code. There's hope for freewill yet. ;-)
The verification was 'gfucht.'
I kinda wanted to see:
Give Me Some Truth - Lennon
War Pigs - Sabbath
Fortunate Son - CCR
Fight The Power - Public Enemy
Masters Of War - Dylan
...and of course,
Mandy - Barry Manilow
I'm surprised McCain didn't choose Neil Young's Old Man.
Randal, I thought any top ten list had to have at least 3 Beatles songs mandatory!
Spartacus, LOL, Either that or "Uptown Girl" for his wife!
Puddy's list made me laugh. War Pigs, oh hell yeah!
liberality, but the loud guitars would scare the bejesus out of McCain!
