A roadside bomb in southern Iraq struck a bus on Tuesday, killing 16 passengers and wounding 22, an Interior Ministry official said.

The bombing occurred around 2 p.m., the official said, about 50 miles south of Nasiriya as the bus traveled between Najaf and Basra. No other details were immediately available.
