Wexler Grills Mueller...

I'm stunned by FBI director Robert Mueller's "responses" to Congressman Wexler's questions regarding torture. He put on a Gonzo-like clinic on how not to answer questions by answering them. A masterful performance. It goes up there with William H. Macy's character in the movie Fargo. "Ma'am, I'm cooperating....Ma'am! I'm cooperating here". Scroll past the video for some of the greatest non answers EVER!

Here's your country's top cop:

R.Wexler: Why did you not initiate criminal investigations when your agents told you the CIA and the Department of Defense were engaging in illegal interrogation techniques, and rather than simply pulling your agents out, shouldn’t you have directed them to prevent any illegal interrogations from taking place?

RM Mueller: I can go so far sir as to tell you that a protocol in the FBI is not to use coercion in any of our interrogations or our questioning and we have abided by our protocol.

R Wexler: I appreciate that. What is the protocol say when the FBI knows that the CIA is engaging or the Department of Defense is engaging in an illegal technique? What does the protocol say in that circumstance?

R Mueller: We would bring it up to appropriate authorities and determine whether the techniques were legal or illegal.

R Wexler: Did you bring it up to appropriate authorities?

R Mueller: All I can tell you is that we followed our own protocols.

R Wexler: So you can’t tell us whether you brought it; when your own FBI agents came to you and said the CIA is doing something illegal which caused you to say don’t you get involved; you can’t tell us whether you then went to whatever authority?

R Mueller: I’ll tell you we followed our own protocols.

R Wexler: And what was the result?

R Mueller: We followed our own protocols. We followed our protocols. We did not use coercion. We did not participate in any instance where coercion was used to my knowledge.

What's the secret word of the day Pee Wee? PROTOCOL...aiieiieiieggh!!

Okay, I'm down off the ceiling; and I still want to scream! And not just at Mueller; Wexler showed way too much decorum. How about at least, "You sir, are a disgrace to your office and your country. May the day come soon when rank malfeasance such as you've demonstrated today becomes the evidence to put you behind bars until you can't dress yourself."

That would have been nice. I put it up because Wexler is at least trying to get some answers. He's one of the few who are still calling for impeachment hearings and we need more like him. Although I agree Michael, tougher "Wexlers".
