After John McCain claimed that a Hamas spokesman had said that they "support" Barack Obama as the new president, Obama fired back yesterday.
"I've said it's a terrorist organization and we should not negotiate with them unless they recognize Israel, renounce violence, and unless they are willing to abide by previous accords between the Palestinians and the Israelis. So for him to toss out comments like that I think is an example of him losing his bearings as he pursues this nomination. We don't need name calling in this debate."
Now I don't think that was a dig on McCain's age but his campaign did and they fired back today.
"First, let us be clear about the nature of Senator Obama's attack today: He used the words 'losing his bearings' intentionally, a not particularly clever way of raising John McCain's age as an issue. This is typical of the Obama style of campaigning."
Now remember, John McCain started this whole episode by saying Hamas supports Obama. Now that Obama has answered the smear with his own little dig, it's "typical of the Obama style of campaigning"? If your going to make wild accusations about terrorists supporting a presidential candidate then you better be ready to take some flak for it. McCain just can't go around saying whatever he wants and then when he is called out on it cries out, their using the "age" card. Hypocrisy Senator McCain, Google search it sometime. The best is McCain's personal statement today about his "bearings".
“It's very obvious to everyone that Senator Obama shares nothing of the values or goals of Hamas, which is a terrorist organization,” McCain said. “But it's also fact that a spokesperson from Hamas said that he approves of Obama's candidacy. I think that's of interest to the American people.”
It sounds a lot like Ed Koch's statements earlier in the week. Notice again how McCain starts out saying the "it's obvious that Senator Obama shares nothing of the values of Hamas", but then turns around and reiterates the smear. He then throws in,"the American people want to talk about this not me". These people have never heard of hypocrisy. He's gonna get his ass spanked in the general election if this is all he can muster.

Hamas may indeed support Obama. They probably recognize that he is a rational guy who is not a warmonger who is solely interested in deepening his own pockets. Hamas has issues, like it or not some are legitimate. Since Obama has a better understanding of the world than McCain; he is more qualified to help keep the Middle East calm. This position that McCain has brought to our attention can really be used to sting him hard.
My point was more, why even bring it up. I guarentee that there are some KKK fringe guys in America who support McCain but you don't hear Obama bringing it up.
I understand your point Bradda, and I agree. I think that the more McCain talks; the more fuel he will give to Obama to win the general election. McCain has the KKK, and I do not believe that Obama will be able to take that from him.
