Sue as I say, not as I do

Shocking absolutely no one, House Minority Leader John Boehner is a complete hypocrite. In a piece for the Politico, Boehner's wiretapping stance draws ire, Chris Frates details how Boehner and lawyers representing him against Representative Jim McDermott in an illegal wiretapping case reaped a million dollar reward even as Boehner has vocally sought to squash Electronic Frontier Foundation and ACLU suits against telecoms who are widely accepted to have acted illegally in wiretapping Americans without a warrant at the behest of the Bush Administration.

Forgetting the fact that wiretapping in violation of FISA is now believed to have started before 9/11, which already discredits any of Boehner's fearmongering national security claims, his case against McDermott makes his attacks on "greedy trial lawyers" laughable. Apparently they shouldn't be allowed to sue on the behalf of Americans whose rights have been violated. But, they're encouraged to profit if representing him.

Thanks to Tim Jones at EFF for his post on the story.

This has been a massive thorn in my side since it started. I haven't been able to blog too much about it because it seemed an imminent conclusion. Democrats buckle again! I still hold a little hope that the whole biz will get situated but I just don't see it happening. The "Owners" will get the decision that they want and we the people will continue to suckle the tit that is reality.

"suckle the tit that is reality"? isn't that problem that we don't suckle the reality-tit. and what the fuck is a tit that is reality?
